Spring Festival of 2011 / 2011年的春节

This year’s celebration was the same as usual. We also started from the afternoon of Chinese New year’s eve. We started with Lo Hei in our school. Everyone got together, hoping for a prosperous upcoming Year of the Rabbit. The happiest thing for me was when I met my former director at NTU. He still remembered me. So touching!

After that, I rushed to Ting’s house for the reunion dinner. She stays near NTU. We celebrated Chinese New year last year also. She’s a good playwright. She started writing a campus love story when she studied at NYP and completed her second one after joining NTU. Hopefully one day she’ll write for MediaCorp and leave her footprints on the red carpets of Oscar and Cannes. This time she also invited Xin (who’s now working for a Japanese company) and his girlfriend, Yang (working on a bachelor’s degree at NTU) and his girlfriend, Lin (doing bachelor’s degree in NTU) and Zhu (just finished her degree courses at the University of Queensland, found a new job as a customer service officer with Apple). They were all 24 or 5, full of youth and energy. We cooked dumplings and some other dishes. Although she had no TV at home, we watched CCTV Spring Festival Show on the internet from her laptop. It was also quite fun.

On the New Year’s Day, I went to Istana, hoped to see our president. Unfortunately it was not open. I didn’t know why. The TV news program always mentions that it’s open on public holidays. From there, I went to the Guanyin Temple. Although it was 4:30 in the afternoon, it was still so crowded. I had to pray outside the Temple. Sorry Guanyin and Huatuo, I’ll definitely come some other time.

Because of the Chinese New Year, Mr. Bean opened very late. So I had to take my breakfast in Coffee Bean instead. That affected my sleep. So for the entire day of the second day of the Chinese New Year I did not feel well. It seems that foreign foods are not very suitable for our Eastern stomachs. Haha.

Chinese New Year Celebration /

This year I celebrated Chinese year new with several of our graduates. We went to天and 晨’s house at Woodlands on New Year’s Eve. In fact this was already the third time we celebrated Chinese New Year together. The first time was on 2008. But that was not New Year’s Eve. It was the second day of the New Year. 天and晨, together with 茹,奈and me went to sing karaoke at Bugis. We were so happy that day. Until today I still remember it so vividly. 晨and茹have nice voices. That was so entertaining. Now 茹quit her school and has gone back to China; 奈went back to Japan. Last year we had a huge group including美,香andゆ. Now even香andゆ have also gone back to Japan. We have less and less people left. So sad. Luckily this year, two new girls joined us, 婷and楠. 楠just left Singapore for Australia to further her studies. "I’ll return to Singapore in a year and a half. By that time, 'I'll have completed my degree" said she. Wishing that everything will go smoothly for her and that next year we will have an even better celebration.
